I will be referring to Windows Live Messenger as MSN as well in this guide as this software used to be referred to as MSN Messenger also

Windows Live Messenger is an instant messenger that allows you to communicate with contacts which you add via their email address. Along with just communicating using text with your added contacts there are many other features that are available to you whilst using this software.

Like a Star @ heaven Users can "appear offline" to whomever they wish, for example if you wanted to only speak to person A and not person B, you can select to appear offline to person B and they would not know that you had come online.
Like a Star @ heaven Offline messaging is also applied whereby if someone is offline and you send them a message, they will receive this message when they come back online.
Like a Star @ heaven Gallery viewing, you can share files and photos with your contacts
Like a Star @ heaven There are many games and applications contacts can use together

Those are just a few features of this well known software.
